200-hour Yoga Teacher Training
The Essential Yoga Studio Teacher Training Program invites you to move more deeply into your understanding of yoga with our teacher trainings.  This commitment is intended for those desiring to teach or to deepen their understanding of yoga practice.  This journey of self-awareness is accomplished with two 10-day intensives.  This yoga program is for yoga practioners who want to evolve and intergrate their life experience into the journey of yoga.  
 
We empower teachers with knowledge, experience teaching and the confidence to share the gifts of yoga.
 
Spring 2012:

Tuition:
$1800+tax for the first intensive 
$1200+tax for the second intensive.  
$250 deposit covers books and processing fees for Yoga Alliance.

Our program is open to anyone who is passionate about yoga. Learn to incorporate what makes you unique to teaching. This program is available to all ages, levels and bodies.  We offer a program that exposes you to different styles of yoga and then encourages your individual creativity to flow.
 
Our program starts with a strong foundation in the History of Yoga, Anatomy and how to teach different postures.  You will learn how yoga can affect chronic injuries and what you can do as a yoga teacher to help those who have different ailments.  Take advantage of our practicum program that allows you to start teaching in a relaxed environment.
 
With the second 10 days, we will continue to move deeper into subjects introduced in the first half and look at other related topics such as Ayurvedic massage, Ayurvedic Diet, sequencing,kundalini dance and how yoga principles can be applied to other aspects of our lives.
 
We encourage you to see your yoga practice and the desire to teach yoga as a journey that lasts a lifetime. The EYS program shows you how to teach a mindful and safe class applicable to all styles of yoga.  You learn how to share your passion through leading discussions about yogic philosophy to class design and flow.
 
The EYS Teacher Training Program sees value in all yogic traditions and styles. It is designed to honor the general principles of yoga and encourage students to develop an individualistic teaching style that resonates within them. Our goal is that you learn to teach safely and confidently.  Learn to engage others in your passion for yoga.
 
We are registered with the Yoga Alliance, an internationally recognized governing body that regulates the highest standards for yoga teachers internationally.  With this certification, you will have opportunities to teach throughout the world. The Essential Yoga Studio follows the Yoga Alliance guidelines to ensure your certification is viable for wherever you choose to teach.
 
Fees include:

-free classes at Essential Yoga Studio from the time you sign up to until the completion of your 2nd intensive
 
-a comprehensive manual as well as field trips, presentations from various specialists and other events.
 
The programs are led by Senior Yoga Instructor EYRT Francesca ter Poorten. Francesca has taught for over 15 years.  She has studied with the masters of India, the United States and Canada as well. Joining her are Physiotherapist Shona Williams, an RYT teacher who brings greater understanding to anatomy and therapeutic yoga.  Also Heather Stephens, an ERYT yoga teacher with a kinesiology background, specializing in Kids and Prenatal Yoga.

-Experience intensive study and practice of asanas

-Learn how to chant and discover why the sounds we create can help us vibrate at a different level
-Enjoy 1-2 Guided Yoga Practices each day
-Understand basic anatomy and how its relevant to yoga postures
-Develop confidence as a yoga teacher and how to develop a professional attitude
-Learn how to connect with your students
-Discover how to run workshops and gain confidence to lead discussions
-Study Sanskrit for yoga teachers
-Find out how to safely and confidently adjust students
-Learn more about proper yogic diet, Ayurvedic lifestyles and massage
-Create class plans that are sequenced properly to keep students injury-free and progressing
-Observe and assist senior teachers or practice teaching in our community classes
-Find out how to create classes for special populations
Requirements
-Attend both 10-day Intensives
-Complete various assignments and readings
Location:We are located in the beautiful mountain town of Fernie, B.C in the Canadian Rockies. Most parts of the program will be taking place at the Essential Yoga Studio. Lodging is available at various hotels or inexpensive boarding in people’s homes. Please contact us if you need assistance locating a place to stay.
